Ford transit auto gearbox problem. I've got a 2004 Ford Transit van with push button semi auto. A warning light flashes in the dash panel. It engages forward & reverse with no problem only to disengage both forward/ reverse to neutral when the vehicle comes to a halt, otherwise it performs as normal. I installed this transmission with only a bracket change over from the old transmission. However, now I have a code indicating improper shift points.

Check the transmission fluid level. Leave the car running, park on a level surface, and remove the dtipstick, clean it, and quickly reinsert and remove the dipstick.
